the best places to walk/run in charleston, according to the longevity TEAM

As temperatures get a little warmer and the sun stays out a little longer each day, we can't help but want to take our training outside. The Longevity team shares their favorite spot for an outdoor workout in Charleston (when they're not on the Longevity Terrace, of course).

Magnolia Gardens. I love going there as soon as they open to walk the trains. It's the perfect complement to my in-studio practice. The trails allow for miles and miles of beautiful walking; I love when leisure and exercise coincide. I'm not someone who works out in parks - I save the strength-based exercise for class. Cardio and mindful walking, however, is done regularly at Magnolia. It's worth the commute for the serenity!

BOBBY
My favorite place to run is our neighborhood, The Preserve at Fenwick - we have about a quarter mile row of oak trees with dirt and gravel road. This run is easy on the joints and full of shade and awesome views. Runner-up, but not by far: a workout on the Longevity Terrace with TRX and dumbbells.

MARIA
The serene views, the salty air, the sounds of nature... a jog and stretch at Pitt Street Bridge always does it for me.  There's just something about releasing endorphins, stress and thoughts all at once. If I'm feeling ambitious toward the end, I'll throw in a series of tricep dips, push-ups and planks on one of the benches. (Which is more often than not, because my mood instantly shifts)

I like to walk around Shem Creek park! Great for scenery and people watching; it's fun to watch the shrimpers if they’ve just come in with a catch. There’s almost always a dolphin or two as well.

MARA

I love to run/walk around Colonial Lake when the weather is nice.

I love a run at Hampton Park.

BENITA
I've always loved running at Hampton Park. I taught my children how to ride bikes over there so that they could bike with me while I trained. As of lately, I am addicted to TRX on the Longevity Terrace. (and adding mountain climbers & jump squats in for cardio) It's safe with beautiful views!

As a downtown dweller, I like to get my steps in with a stroll around downtown Charleston - and my daily warm-up is a walk to Longevity Fitness!

ANNA
I love to run along the Battery.
